The Youth Leaders Interfaith Retreat concluded at the ASHA Centre in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, where 16 inspiring young men and women aged 18 to 35 gathered to strengthen the UK’s interfaith movement. This cohort of emerging leaders engaged in a transformative week of mindfulness, contemplative practice, and intensive training in dialogue and multi-faith social action.

A significant milestone of the residency was a dedicated day of collaborative design, where participants developed innovative, faith-led strategies to address violence against children and young people. By participating on an equal footing and sharing a commitment to mutual respect, these new leaders have returned to their communities equipped with the practical tools and reinforced solidarity necessary to champion a more peaceful and cohesive society.

Members considered how best to communicate the Forum’s values, enhance collaboration between diverse faith and belief communities, and respond to emerging opportunities and challenges. The time together fostered deeper relationships, renewed commitment, and a shared determination to advance the Forum’s mission of promoting unity, mutual respect, and social cohesion across the United Kingdom.

Representatives of the Unity in Diversity Forum met with officials from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) Faith Team at the National Bahá’í Centre in London on 13 May 2026 to explore new ways of strengthening collaboration between government and the UK’s diverse faith communities. The meeting focused on improving engagement with smaller faith communities, enhancing religious literacy across government, and creating more effective partnerships to support social cohesion. Forum members emphasised that minority faith communities are eager to contribute to peacebuilding and public life but often feel underrepresented in policy development. They offered the Unity in Diversity Forum as both a collaborative partner for government initiatives and a bridge between policymakers and grassroots communities.

Discussions also highlighted the importance of recognising the diversity that exists within faith traditions, improving the reporting of religious hate crime, and addressing gaps in service provision and funding for places of worship. Government officials welcomed the constructive dialogue and identified several key priorities, including defining what meaningful engagement with faith communities should look like in practice, strengthening religious literacy within government departments, and exploring broader approaches to religious education that promote social and cultural understanding. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue the conversation, with the Unity in Diversity Forum inviting officials to future events and proposing a follow-up meeting later in the year to build on the partnership.

Harmony in Humanity was a Unity of Diversity event held at the Zoroastrian Centre during Inter Faith Week 2025. It brought together people from many different faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds to share, listen, and learn from one another. The event aimed to help develop the Unity of Diversity project, which seeks to build stronger links between communities and encourage cooperation across differences.
