Free to Believe, Free to Act was a conference organised in Coventry to discuss the current challenges in the area of faith and religious belief, and broader human rights.
Attended by people from civil society and faith groups, the conference discussed various issues affecting local communities. Held at The Hub, Coventry University, there was attendance from civil society members and faith leaders. The actual conference was linked to a much bigger international inter-governmental conference to promote Freedom of Religion or Belief, which took place in London on 6th July 2022.
Coventry has a justified reputation as a city of reconciliation, where people from diverse nationalities, ethnicities and religious adherences live together in mutual respect.
But in other parts of Britain and many places worldwide, inter-communal tensions are severe and growing. Young people, in particular, want to acquire tools to enable them to challenge faith-based hate and discrimination wherever it exists in the world.
